Associate Professor

Università degli Studi di Pavia

Gerardo Salvato is a cognitive neuroscientist, psychologist-neuropsychologist, and psychotherapist. He serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Brain and Behavioral Sciences, University of Pavia, and he has been a research consultant at ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda in Milan, where much of his scientific work is carried out. His research investigates how the brain represents space and the body in both healthy and clinical populations, with a particular emphasis on multisensory integration and its role in maintaining a coherent sense of self. He is the author of more than 50 publications in leading international journals, including Nature Communications, Human Brain Mapping, The Lancet Neurology, and Current Biology. His work has been supported by competitive funding from major institutions such as the European Commission and the Italian Ministry of Health. Salvato’s scientific contribution stands out for its multidisciplinary scope, uniting experimental neuroscience, neuropsychology, and clinical practice, and is driven by a deep curiosity about the mechanisms that connect brain, body, and behavior.
