Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Department of Food and Drug Sciences of the University of Parma. Member of the Faculty Board of the Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Parma. From 2018 to 2021, visiting professor of Drug Design and Structure-Activity Relationships at the University of Lincoln (UK), School of Pharmacy.
Member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pineal Research (Wiley) and Current Pharmaceutical Design (Bentham). Author of approximately 140 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and several patents on compounds of pharmaceutical interest . H index: 44 (August 2025). His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and study of the relationships between structural aspects and biological activity, reactivity, and stability of new drugs, and on the lipidomic analysis of complex biological matrices for the characterization of the pharmacological activity and mechanism of action of drugs. The areas of research concern G protein-coupled receptors, including melatonin and cannabinoid receptor ligands, inhibitors of receptors with tyrosine kinase activity (e.g., EGFR, FGFR), and enzyme inhibitors, in particular compounds acting on enzymes involved in the catabolism of endocannabinoids and related substances.
