Professor of Neuroradiology

Medical specialist in Radiodiagnostics, I am currently Full Professor of Neuroradiology (MED/37) at the University of Pavia and Director of the Complex Radiology/Imaging Diagnostics Unit at the Foundation IRCCS National Neurological Institute “C. Mondino” of Pavia. In this role I coordinate clinical and research activities high complexity, which includes neuroradiological CT and MRI performance (1.5T and 3T) both in urgency and in election, to support the management of complex neurological patients. Since 2014, I have also headed the Simple Unit of Pediatric Neuroradiology at the same Foundation. I am Head of the Research Center “Advanced Imaging & AI” of the IRCCS Neurological Institute Foundation National “C. Mondino” which integrates multidisciplinary skills of doctors, physicists and engineers for the development of advanced imaging, radiomics and artificial intelligence methods applied to neuroscience. The center collaborates with national and international entities, including ICAM (University of Pavia), University of Basel, Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center (BNAC, USA) and University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Academic activity includes teaching in degree courses in Medicine and Surgery (in English language – Harvey), in the Graduate Schools of Radiodiagnostics, Neurology, Child Neuropsychiatry, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, Vascular Surgery and Neurosurgery, as well as in various degree courses of the Health Professions.
I also tutor for degree and specialization theses.
I have gained international experience as a visiting fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard University (Boston, USA) and at Hammersmith Hospital – Imperial College London, with insights into advanced magnetic resonance techniques (DTI, spectroscopy, fMRI) and on neuromuscular imaging. I am the author of numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and an invited speaker at
national and international congresses. Professional with consolidated clinical, management and scientific experience, I integrate the care practice with care activities research and training, with particular interest in the development and application of innovative neuroimaging methods advanced and artificial intelligence.
