Type A temporary researcher (RTD-A)
Università degli Studi della Campania - Luigi VanvitelliAndrea Perrottelli, PhD, is a Researcher at the Department of Mental Health and Physics and Preventive Medicine at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” in Naples, Italy. His research activity focuses on the investigation of neural correlates in psychosis, with a focus on the identification of EEG and fMRI biomarkers of negative symptoms and cognitive impairment. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and participated in international multicenter studies of event-related potentials, EEG microstates, and fMRI connectivity at rest. His most recent research interests also include the characterization of post-COVID-19 cognitive impairment through clinical assessments, neuroimaging and laboratory analysis, and the development of new assessment methodologies, such as virtual reality, ecological assessments and deep phenotyping, to analyze cognitive functions and real-life functioning in psychotic disorders.
He received his PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medical Sciences from the University of Campania, with a thesis on the electrophysiological correlates of reward anticipation in subjects with schizophrenia, and a Master of Research (M.Res.) in Brain Sciences from University College London, with a thesis on the analysis of neural responses to temporal acoustic regularities via EEG. During his time as a Fulbright Scholar and visiting researcher at the UC Davis Imaging Research Center he conducted studies on the preprocessing and analysis of fMRI and EEG data in subjects with schizophrenia, contributing to projects on cognitive control deficits, test-retest reliability of fMRI, effects of transcranial stimulation (tDCS) on EEG indices and gender differences in neuroimaging correlates and clinical characteristics of patients with psychosis during early disease stages.
