Professor I band
Università degli Studi di Napoli - Federico IISimona Paladino is Full Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Naples Federico II, School of Medicine and Surgery.
His scientific activity has been mainly dedicated to the study of the molecular mechanisms that regulate membrane trafficking and organelle biogenesis. Currently, the interest of his research group is to study these mechanisms in different pathophysiological contexts, with particular attention in recent years to their role in neuronal homeostasis, with the aim of understanding how dysfunction of these mechanisms can lead to neurological disorders and identifying new therapeutic targets. In addition to molecular and cellular biology approaches, his group uses confocal microscopy and advanced imaging techniques to study cellular and molecular dynamics.
She was responsible for the microscopy platform at the Ceinge Institute (2007-2018) and is currently responsible for the scientific direction of the departmental imaging facility.
