Associate Professor

Fabrizio Montecucco, MD, PhD is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Genoa (Italy) and Director of the First Clinic of Internal Medicine at IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino. After completing his medical degree and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Genoa, he moved for the post-doc to the University of Geneva (Switzerland). Then, he came back to the University of Genoa getting a professorship in 2016. His research focuses on inflammatory diseases, with particular interests in atherosclerosis, obesity, sepsis and neutrophil-related pathophysiology.
Prof. Montecucco serves as Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Clinical Investigation and has held multiple leadership roles within the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI), including council membership, vicepresidency. His research has been supported by national and international funding bodies, including the Italian Cardiovascular Network and Swiss National Science Foundation.
He has authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications (H-index: 65; total impact factor >2500; >16000 citations) and maintains active collaborations across Europe in translational cardiovascular research.
