PhD student
Università degli Studi di Napoli - Federico IIBaptiste Mateu is a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences with experience in microbiota-host interactions and the microbiota-gut-brain axis. He obtained a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Montpellier and subsequently a Master's degree in Biotherapies and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products from the University of Nantes. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Naples Federico II as an MSCA fellow, investigating how the gut microbiota modulates gut-brain communication, with projects exploring developmental dysbiosis, microbiota-based interventions in epilepsy, and the contribution of microbial metabolites to brain function. His research combines approaches from microbiology, molecular biology and bioinformatics to explore how microbial communities and their metabolites influence host physiology. It also conducted studies on microbiota modulation through pharmacological and microbiota-based strategies, including treatments with broad-spectrum antibiotics and postbiotics. He has contributed to projects ranging from neuropharmacology to microbiota analysis and microbial pathogenesis. Baptiste Mateu is the author of 5 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
