Università degli Studi di PaviaDr. Mancini is a Type A Fixed-Term Researcher (RTDa) at the Department of Nervous System and Behavior Sciences at the University of Pavia, in the laboratory of Prof. Antonio Pisani. He obtained a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Molise (2014), after graduating with a master's degree in Biology with honors from the University of Sannio. His research activity focuses on the mechanisms of regulation of dopamine release and the synaptic and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with particular reference to Parkinson's disease.
She has carried out research in various national and international contexts, including the IRCCS Fondazione Santa Lucia (Rome), the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität of Jena (Germany) and the New York University School of Medicine (USA), where she was Postdoctoral Fellow from 2016 to 2019 thanks to a Fresco Basic Science Research Fellowship from the Fresco Institute of NYU Langone Health. In 2020 she returned to Italy with a salary Award from the Fresco Foundation, at the Institute of Neuroscience of the CNR and then moved to the University of Pavia and was involved in the MNESYS project in 2023.
She is the author of 19 original articles in peer-reviewed journals and 3 reviews, with over 700 citations and an H-index of 14. She has participated as a speaker at international conferences and academic seminars in the United States and Europe. It has won various awards and competitive grants over the years until obtaining the Starting Grant “Italian Science Fund, second edition” (FIS2) from the Ministry of University and Research in 2025 for the CARE-PD project, aimed at studying the role of the cerebellum in the progression of Parkinson's disease and developing new therapeutic strategies based on non-invasive neuromodulation of this brain area.
