Dr. Johanna Jonsdottir is a senior researcher with an expertise in neurorehabilitation and innovative therapy delivery models. She has extensive experience in developing and validating testing protocols and rehabilitation programs for persons with neurological disorders, such as
Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disorder. She has coordinated and contributed to numerous EU- and nationally funded multicenter studies (e.g REHAB@Home) aiming to improve gait, balance, arm function, physical activity and/or participation in daily life. Those included user-centered development and testing of protocols for telerehabilitation, exoskeleton-assisted gait training, and EMG-based functional electrical stimulation (FES). Her work bridges technology and clinical practice, ensuring innovative solutions are translated into effective rehabilitation strategies. She has presented at major conferences in neurology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation, and serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Rehabilitation
Sciences. She teaches as Adjunct Professor at the University of Milan and has a Scopus impact factor of 30.
