Università degli Studi di Bologna - Alma Mater StudiorumGraduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors from the University of Bologna, she specialized with honors in Psychiatry at the University of Bologna. Also graduated in Law with honors from the University of Bologna and qualified to practice law at the Court of Appeal of Bologna. He received his PhD in Geriatric Epidemiology from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Department of Clinical Neuroscience. Engaged in international research projects (MNESYS: A multiscale integrated approach to the study of the nervous
system in health and disease; ALADDIN: European Union 7 PQ Ambient Assistant Living), collaborates with various European institutes, including the Karolinska Institutet where he obtained his PhD. He deals with pharmacogenomics and psychiatric diseases, risk factors for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, depression and psychosis in the elderly, multimorbidity and disability in the elderly. Furthermore, in the fields of bioethics and biolaw, protection of women and disabled people, end of life, forensic psychiatry and criminology. He has acted as referee for the European Community Research Commission, the MIUR and for numerous international journals. He is the author or co-author of over 270 scientific publications, with over 8400 citations (Scopus). At the level of institutional positions, among others he is the National Co-Rapporteur of the Directors of the Schools of Specialization in Psychiatry and the Director of the School of Specialty in Psychiatry of the University of Bologna since 2021 (as well as in 2005-2013).
