Full Professor of Pharmacology
Università degli Studi di VeronaCristiano Chiamulera is Full Professor of Pharmacology. E’ President of the Single Cycle Master's Degree Course in Pharmacy. In the research field he is responsible for the NeuroPsychopharmacology laboratory (NeuroPsiLab) at the Department of Diagnostics and Public Health. For the Integrated University Hospital of Verona he holds the role of Director of the Pharmacology Operational Unit.
In the past he was President of the Single Cycle Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, and of the Degree Course in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques. Currently and in the past he has directed Post-graduate courses, and was Coordinator of the Doctoral Course in Translational Biomedicine.
His research interests are in the pharmacology and neuroscience of neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly drug addiction. His developed scientific education - both in the industrial sector (1986-2002) and in the academic world (2003-present) - ranges from basic research to clinical and application in healthcare and prevention. His works have been published in international peer-reviewed journals (including Science, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron), and presented in more than 200 invited oral presentations and conferences. Currently his research interests are on the interaction between drugs, health and the environment (natural and built), as expressed by the Ecocebo concept.
As President of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT), he founded the European chapter (2010). From 2013 to 2018 he was General Secretary of the European Behavioral Pharmacology Society (EBPS). He was a member of the Clinical Pharmacology Committee of the Italian Society of Pharmacology (SIF). He sits on several scientific-technical and ethical committees for research.
