Marta Carè is a health researcher at the IRCCS San Martino Polyclinic Hospital in Genoa, in the LiSTechLab. She obtained her PhD in Bioengineering and Robotics (Neuroengineering curriculum) in 2023 from the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the University of Genoa, under the supervision of Prof. Michela Chiappalone. In 2017 he obtained a Master's Degree in Bioengineering with honors from the University of Genoa and in 2015 a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, from the same University. She has carried out experience as a research fellow and collaborator at DIBRIS (University of Genoa) and IIT, as well as periods of consultancy in the IT sector at KPMG. He spent periods
as a Visiting Scholar to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City, USA) in 2019 and 2022. His research activity focuses on the development of personalized neurostimulation strategies to promote functional recovery after brain injury, the analysis and manipulation of neural activity in preclinical models, and the integration of neuroengineering approaches for clinical translation. She is the author and co-author of publications in international journals and conference proceedings, including articles in Nature Communications,
Frontiers in Neuroscience, IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, and Bioelectronic Medicine. Since 2025, he has been a member of the IEEE Neural Engineering Technical Committee. He has received scientific awards including the BraYn Travel Grant 2024 and the Best Poster Bronze award at the 9° Summer School on Neuroengineering Massimo Grattarola. She has been responsible or collaborator in funded research projects, including the project “Research projects: the research it curates” (Villa Montallegro, 2024-2027).
