Associate Professor
Università degli Studi di ParmaIn 2003 I graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and in 2008 I took the doctorate in Neuroscience at the University of Parma. My research is focused on the anatomical-functional definition cortical circuits involved in motor control and cognitive-motor functions. I have consolidated experience in the study of the neuroanatomy of non-human primates. I worked on the feature-based areal definition architectural and connections of the inferior parietal, ventral premotor and lateral prefrontal cortex in the macaque.
During my internship at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute (Japan) and subsequent collaboration with Kathleen Rockland, I worked on single axon reconstruction, cortical columnar organization, and white matter neurons. I collaborated with G. Rizzolatti and W. Vanduffel (KU Leuven, Belgium) for the definition of the action observation network in the macaque, based on a combination of neural tracers and fMRI data. More recently, I have become interested in defining large-scale networks (cortical and subcortical) in the macaque, with classical and MRI-based anatomical techniques, and their human counterparts using a comparative approach.
