Full Professor
Università degli Studi di ParmaFull Professor of Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Parma, where he coordinates the Doctorate in Neuroscience and is Delegate for International Research of the Department of Medicine and Surgery.
Graduated in Psychology with honours (2003) and PhD in Neuroscience (2008), he is first Associate Professor (2016) and then Full Professor (2021) at the University of Parma. He is included as of 2024 among the World's Top 2% Scientists (Stanford/Elsevier), author of over 50 scientific publications. It has obtained competitive funding of over 5 million euros, including 3 ERCs (Starting, Consolidator and Proof of Concept) and numerous national projects. He has been PI of innovative projects on the neurophysiology of the motor system and social interactions of primates. He currently leads a 21-member research team and collaborates on a regular basis with international centres of excellence (NIH, KU Leuven, University of Freiburg, CNRS of Lyon, Scuola Sant'Anna Pisa, University of Turin). He has supervised more than 60 master's theses, over twenty doctoral students (9 already PhDs, all included in academic careers) and 9 post-docs, with a strong commitment to the training of young researchers. He has carried out intense teaching activities in degree, master and doctoral courses in psychobiology, neuroscience and speech therapy (2009–2024). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Neuroscience (SINS) and of various international scientific societies (SfN, ISN, NCM). Active in science communication and advocacy for animal research, he has organized workshops, seminars and dissemination activities in schools, universities and public settings. His works and commitment have been taken up by Science, Nature Italy, Quanta Magazine and Le Scienze.
