Full Professor

Graduated in Pharmacy with top marks (cum laude) in 1988, she obtained a PhD in Chemical Sciences in 1992 from the University of Pisa. Specialist in “Science and Technology of medicinal plants” obtained at the University of Pisa in 1994. Specialist in “Hospital Pharmacy” obtained at the State University of Milan in 1997. Since 2021 he has been a full professor and later at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Florence. From 2006 to 2024 she was Director of the Graduate School of Hospital Pharmacy at the University of Florence. Since 2018 he has been president of the Interdepartmental Service Center for Biotechnology of Agricultural, Chemical and Industrial Interest (CIBIACI) of the University of Florence. He has won several national and international awards. Since 1997 he has been the Italian delegate of ESCOP, since 2014 he has been part of the board of directors and since 2020 he has been deputy chiar. Since 2009 he has been an expert in the European Pharmacopoeia. From 2016 to 2019, she served as president-elect of the Society for the Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), vice-president (2014-2015 and 2020-2021. From 2013 to 2018 she was president of the Italian Society of Phytochemistry and Sciences of Medicinal, Food and Perfume Plants (SIF), already a member of the board of directors from 1997 to today. From 2007 to 2015 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Pharmaceutical Technology and Legislation Researchers (ADRITELF). Since 2017 he has been part of the Working Group “Special Productions“ of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association (AFI). Since 2018 she has been part of the experts of the Technical Table of Officinal Plants as representative of the scientific society SIF, implemented by MIPAF. She has been responsible for several national and international projects, in particular two European projects.
Over 50 invited presentations at national and international conferences in the research sector and publisher of prestigious peer-review journals. The Research activities are aimed at optimizing the technological and biopharmaceutical properties of drugs, natural substances, plant extracts and essential oils, through conventional and innovative formulations, including controlled release systems with microvectors and nanocarriers to be used in the different routes of administration.
