Unit Research Manager

Besides leading a Clinical and Laboratory Unit of research and diagnostics at the Children’s Postgraduate Research Hospital Bambino Gesu’ (Dep.t of Neurosciences, Unit of Neuromuscular and Neurodegenerative Disorders), as a neurologist I built up a wide experience in the follow-up of patients with neuromuscular disorders, mitochondrial disorders and leukodystrophies. This is documented by my co-authorship on several papers on Standard of Care of Spinal muscular atrophy, Standards of Care on congenital muscular dystrophy and on congenital myopathies. Moreover I have as a PI and
Co-Investigator successfully administered projects (e.g. staffing, research protections, budget). I have a broad background in clinical evaluation of neuromuscular patients, in histopathology of muscle, and peripheral nerve, and in neuroimaging of brain and muscle. My research includes the discovery of new genes in the field of neuromuscular disorders, of leukodystrophies, of spastic paraplegia, of ataxia and movement disorders in childhood.
