PhD student

Claudio Basile is a PhD student at the University of Parma since November 2022. During his PhD experience, he has been involved in the design and online control of behavioral tasks in macaques, organization of training sessions, in performing advanced data analysis using Matlab, Python, and R and in daily tutoring of students and trainees.
Before starting his PhD, he carried out a post-graduate research fellowship (April–September 2022) studying the role of the basal ganglia in motor learning based on the observation of biological stimuli. From July 2021 to July 2022, he completed a post-graduate traineeship at the University of
Parma, gaining expertise in neurophysiological recording techniques in non-human primates, neural data acquisition with OpenEphys, and task control using LabView and MonkeyLogic. In addition, he refined skills in post-processing neural data and in setting up experimental research projects.
Previously, in 2020, he undertook a pre-graduate traineeship, assisting with post-recording neural signal analysis and experimental setup.
His academic background includes a Master’s degree in Psychology (University of Parma, 2018–2021) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (University of Palermo, 2015–2018), both completed with full marks and honors. He also completed specific training for laboratory activities with nonhuman primates (2021–2022, 2024) and a short course in biostatistics (Fondazione Santa Lucia, 2024).
