After the Degree in Medical Biotechnology (2000) and the Doctorate in Human Molecular Genetics (2004) at the University of Bologna, obtained a II level Master's degree in Biostatistics (2006) and carried out post research doctorate until 2012. He is currently Associate Professor of Genetics at the same University. For over twenty-five anni is involved in the genetics of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD), gaining consolidated experience in the analysis of genomic data (SNP-arrays, WES and WGS) and in their bioinformatics and statistical interpretation. It has participated in many international consortia, including the International Molecular Genetic Study of Autism Consortium (IMGSAC), the Autism Genome Project (AGP), and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC), contributing to the identification of rare variants and novel candidate genes for autism. In recent years he has focused his research on the analysis of exome and genome sequencing data in cohorts of patients with ASD, identifying new variants and risk genes and consolidating the role of already known genes. In parallel, it undertook functional studies to assess the biological impact of the most promising variants, with the goal of understanding the molecular echanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders. She is the author of over 40 publications in international journals (H-index: 31). At the University of Bologna he holds teachings in the Degree Courses in Biotechnology, Health Biology and Genomics (International degree). It unfolds supervision activities of students and doctoral students and is a member of the Teaching Board of the Doctorate in Biology Cellular and Molecular.
