SEARCH ACTIVITY
M.A. has acquired research experience in Italy, Germany, and the USA. His interest in chemical entities of biological
function ranges from small metabolites to biopolymers, and to the description of their interactions at the atomic level.
Since 2013, M.A. leads an independent research group in Verona. New lines of research are being pursued in the team,
including chemical neuroscience. He is focusing on the investigation of the aggregation of amyloidogenic proteins such
as alpha-synuclein and tau. Recent studies concern the role of post-translational modifications in modulating the
fibrillation of tau, the influence of lipid molecules on amyloid formation, and the possibility to mitigate pathological
aggregation by use of nanoparticles.
He has been member of scientific and organizing committees of several national and international conferences. He was
invited speaker in several congresses. He received funding as PI from the Italian Ministry of University and Research,
from the University of Verona, and from National Foundations. He is the author of ca. 90 research articles published in
peer-reviewed journals. ORCID: 0000-0001-9331-3169
