Andrea Amerio, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of psychiatry at the Department of Neuroscience, Rehabilitation, Ophthalmology, Genetics and Maternal-Infantile Sciences of the University of Genoa, which has an agreement with the San Martino Polyclinic Hospital. Having graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Psychiatry at the University of Parma, in 2013-2014 he obtained a visiting research fellowship at the Tufts Medical Center, Mood Disorders Program, in Boston (USA), under the supervision of Prof. Ghaemi, dedicating himself to the study of pharmacological treatment and psychic comorbidities of bipolar disorders. In 2012 and 2015 he won two scholarships respectively at King's College London (“Global mental health: Research Methods and Practice”) and at the European Psychiatric Association (“Comorbidity between mental and physical disorders”). In 2018 he obtained a PhD in Medical Sciences (XXX Cycle) from the University of Parma discussing a thesis entitled “The use of citalopram in the treatment of bipolar depression: Efficacy results in the acute phase and maintenance phase”. Prof. Amerio was coordinator of the lead unit of the projects “Healthy Aging in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic: impact evaluation of COVID-19 containment measures on physical, mental and social wellbeing of elder and fragile populations” (AXA COVID-19 call 2020), and “Psychic health in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis: The prognostic role of temperament, of personality and attachment styles”, (Grant Application 2021, Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation). Prof. Amerio has published over 170 articles in international indexed journals and has been a speaker at the annual national and international congresses of the main Scientific Societies in his disciplinary sector.
