RTD-B Fixed-Term Researcher

Nicola Alessio is Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology (RTD-B) at the Department of Experimental Medicine of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, where he carries out research focused on the mechanisms of cellular senescence and the use of natural compounds for the modulation of SASP, with applications in regenerative medicine and in pathologies related to aging.
After graduating in Biology and specializing in Molecular Biology at the same university, he obtained a doctorate in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology at the University of Sassari. He continued his education with several post-doc positions between the CNR-IBP and the University of Campania, and with periods as a visiting scientist in important international research centers in France, Japan, Turkey, Spain and the United States.
Since 2020, he has held the position of RTD-A and, since 2024, that of RTD-B, consolidating an academic career of more than 15 years. His scientific production includes 75 peer-reviewed publications with over 2100 citations and an H-index of 27. He is a member of international editorial boards, including Gene & Protein in Disease and International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and has participated as an invited speaker at internationally renowned conferences, including ERPW 2021 and Stem Cell Research Italy 2024.
He has received numerous awards, including the MELODI EURATOM Award and several research awards from the University of Campania and SIAARTI. He is Principal Investigator of a PRIN 2023 project dedicated to Muse cells and co-inventor of a patent on the prevention of cellular senescence.
His technical skills include advanced molecular and cellular biology methods, stem cell cultures, flow cytometry and statistical analysis with dedicated software.
