Type A fixed-term researcher

Università degli Studi di Parma

Fixed-term researcher in Neuroscience at the University of Parma, where he carries out research and teaching activities in the sector of neurophysiology and modeling of cognitive processes. Graduated in Physics with honors (2017) and PhD in Neuroscience (2022), he has developed an interdisciplinary profile that integrates experimental, computational and theoretical skills. During his doctorate he investigated the mechanisms of the action observation network with single neuron recordings in primates, publishing three high-impact articles (Progress in Neurobiology, Journal of Neurophysiology, Current Biology) which received wide international recognition, earning him the Young Investigator Award of the European Brain and Behavior Society (2021). How R.T.Da broadened his lines of research on two fronts: the neuroethological study of natural actions and the investigation of the neural correlates of consciousness. In this area he co-led a pioneering study culminating in a publication in Science (2025), published as first author an article in Current Biology (2025) on the correlates of conscious perception in intracranial patients in collaboration with the CNR, and contributed to the development of open access tools and datasets (Journal of Neuroscience Methods, Scientific Data, 2024). He was Principal Investigator of a competitive funding of Ateneo (2023) and received a Travel Grant as first runner-up at the SINS national congress (2025). He has presented his works at numerous national and international conferences (SfN, EBBS, NCM, SINS), as an invited speaker (Bologna 2025, MNESYS programme) and as a symposium organizer (SINS 2023). He carries out teaching activities as a course holder in cognitive neuroscience and neural signal analysis, and supervision activities for master's and doctoral students. He is active as a reviewer for international journals (eLife, Cell Reports, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Psychology). He regularly participates in public engagement initiatives (European Researchers' Nights) and his research has been the subject of popular interviews, including Nature Italy.
